Peraturan Pemerintah 8/2026 (Peraturan Pemerintah Nomor 8 Tahun 2026 tentang Perubahan atas Peraturan Pemerintah Nomor 23 Tahun 2021 tentang Penyelenggaraan Kehutanan) is an Indonesian government regulation that amends Peraturan Pemerintah 23/2021 on the administration of forestry by requiring the Minister of Forestry to involve the head of the Batam free trade zone authority in forestry matters within the Batam Free Trade Zone and Free Port. According to its considerations, rules on forestry planning, changes in the designation and function of forest areas, the use of forest areas, forest arrangement and management planning and forest utilisation, social forestry, forest protection and forestry supervision within the Batam zone needed adjustment in order to promote competitiveness and economic growth there.[7:2] The general part of the elucidation adds that special arrangements had already been made for the management, business licensing and use of forest areas in the Batam zone, and that sustainable development there required the involvement of the Batam free trade zone authority (Badan Pengusahaan Kawasan Perdagangan Bebas dan Pelabuhan Bebas Batam) in forestry.[4:1]
